How do I add a second guest name to my Marriott account?

You can select two (2) Guests when making a paid reservation, but you cannot add or edit an Additional Name. Please contact us by phone (cannot be done online or in the Marriott Bonvoy® Mobile App) if you are traveling with another Guest who will be arriving first and need to add another name.

Excellent question! Adding a second guest name to your Marriott Bonvoy account is a common request, but it’s important to understand the distinction between the account itself and a hotel reservation.

Here’s a breakdown of what you can and cannot do, and the best ways to handle it:

Important: You Cannot Have Two “Owners” on One Account

A Marriott Bonvoy account is legally tied to a single individual (the member). You cannot add a second person as a joint account holder or have two names on the account itself. The account name, points, elite status, and benefits belong solely to the primary member.

However, there are two main scenarios for what you’re likely trying to achieve:

Scenario 1: Adding a Name to a Specific Hotel Reservation (Most Common)

This is the standard way to ensure a second guest is recognized at check-in. The reservation will be under your name and account, but the second guest is added as an occupant.

How to Do It: 1. During Booking (Online/App): When making a reservation, look for a field labeled “Additional Guest” or “Room Occupant.” You can typically add the second guest’s name here. 2. After Booking: Online/App: Go to “My Trips,” select the reservation, and look for an option to “Modify” or “Add Guest Details.” Call the Hotel Directly: This is often the most reliable method. Call the specific hotel (not the general Bonvoy line) and ask them to add the second guest’s name to the reservation
