You can add money to your Suica card (or Pasmo/Icoca) through several convenient methods in 2026, depending on whether you have a physical card or a digital version on your phone. If you use Apple Wallet (iPhone), you can top up instantly using any Mastercard or American Express card linked to your phone; simply open the Wallet app, select the Suica card, and tap "Add Money." For physical cards, you can use the "IC Charge" machines located at any JR or subway station; you insert the card, select the amount, and pay with cash. Additionally, all major convenience stores (7-Eleven, FamilyMart, Lawson) allow you to add money at the counter; just tell the clerk "Suica charge" and place your card or phone on the reader. You can also use 7-Bank ATMs (found in 7-Elevens and train stations), which have a specialized cradle for your phone or card and accept cash for refills. Note that while digital cards can be topped up via credit card, physical cards in Japan can almost exclusively be recharged using cash, so it is wise to keep some yen on hand for this purpose.
