In August 2020 we announced a temporary ban on all parties and events in listings globally. The temporary ban has proved effective, and today we are officially codifying the ban as our policy.
What happens when a Host or guest violates our policies? We ask our community to work together to help prevent community disturbances and disruptive gatherings. Airbnb may take steps up to and including suspending or removing a guest, Host, or listing from the Airbnb platform if they fail to comply with our policies.
We have implemented restrictions that prevent guests from making reservations for entire homes or private rooms when a pattern of factors suggest that the booking may present higher safety risks (such as parties).
It's up to you, as the Host, to decide if you can accommodate any extra people. If guests show up with extra people, you have the right to turn them away.
Airbnb doesn't allow for hidden cameras or any other types of concealed recording devices. It does allow hosts to install security cameras in or around the property – as long as they're not in private areas like bedrooms or bathrooms, and as long as they are properly disclosed.
Generally, if a host discovers evidence of a party or if they receive complaints from neighbors, they may choose to terminate the stay and charge additional fees. The host also reserves the right to prosecute the guest for damages and/or seek restitution for any money lost during the illegal party.
Unautorized events are not allowed: Any unauthorized events that are being hosted via an Airbnb rental are strictly prohibited. Because all events must be cleared by Airbnb and the rental host beforehand, any events that occur on-site without permission are not allowed.
When you send a booking request, you're sharing your enthusiasm with the Host, not your personal information. Before you book, a Host will only be shown your first name and identity verification status.
Airbnb's policy on guests leaves it up to the host to specify and encourages hosts to be clear about their limits. Hosts can state the number of people, cost per person, and the number of beds in the property. However, there is a limit of 16 people, to discourage large parties.
Denying an inquiry is as simple as hitting the decline button and writing a message to your guest apologizing that you are unable to accommodate them. Use your best judgment when it comes to giving them the real reason or not. It's best not to leave even a rejected guest feeling angry or hurt.
If your guest is being loud in the middle of the night, it's important to address this issue as soon as possible. The best way to do this is by politely asking them to keep noise levels down and explaining why it's important for other guests or neighbors.
Depending on the nature of the violation, Airbnb may also take other actions, such as canceling an upcoming or active reservation, refunding a guest from a Host's payout, and/or requiring Hosts to provide proof that they have addressed issues before they can resume hosting.
If you have too many people in an Airbnb, it can be a major problem. Not only will the host likely not be happy about it, but there may also be safety and legal issues to consider. Depending on local laws and regulations, having more people than allowed could result in fines or even eviction from the property.

That's up to your Host. Read your house rules, and communicate in advance with your Host! If the listing allows for you to book for 2 guests, just go ahead and do that so there is no question.
