You cannot literally "merge" miles from two different oneworld member airlines (like combining British Airways Avios with American Airlines AAdvantage miles) into a single pot, but you can achieve a similar result through the Avios ecosystem or by using partner redemptions. If you earn Avios with British Airways, Iberia, Qatar Airways, or Aer Lingus, you can link your accounts and move your Avios freely between them at a 1:1 ratio. For other oneworld partners, the "combination" happens at the point of booking: you can use miles from one airline to book a flight on any other partner. For example, if you have 30,000 miles in your Qantas Frequent Flyer account, you can go to the Qantas website and use those miles to book a seat on a Cathay Pacific or Japan Airlines flight. The key is to concentrate your earnings into one primary frequent flyer program within the alliance; by providing your preferred airline's membership number every time you fly with any oneworld partner, all your miles will accumulate in that one account, effectively "combining" your efforts toward a single reward.
