How do I enter a discount code on LNER?

During promotional discount periods, you can put in the promotional code we've sent when you sign in to My Account from the desktop version of the website.



To enter a discount code on the London North Eastern Railway (LNER) website or app in 2026, you must first select your journey and proceed to the "Review your journey" or "Payment" screen. Unlike some retail sites, the promo code box is often hidden until you are logged into an LNER account. Look for a link that says "Add a promo code" or "Do you have a discount code?" just before the final "Pay Now" button. For specific discounts like the "Alumni" or "Friends and Family" offers, the discount is often applied automatically if you book through a dedicated portal or link provided in your email. If you are using a Railcard, this is selected at the very beginning of the search process in the "Passengers" section, rather than being entered as a code at the end of the transaction.

Click on 'More Options' and scroll down to find the promo code box. Enter your voucher code in the box and click on 'Get times and dates' to view the fare options. Complete your booking and payment. Enjoy the journey!

How to add a Promo Code:
  1. Open the FREE NOW App.
  2. Register your profile.
  3. Add a Credit/Debit card (you must have a card on your account to use Promo Codes)
  4. Tap the Profile icon in the top right-hand corner of the map.
  5. Tap Add Promo Code.
  6. Enter your Promo Code, then tap Save.

If your download code isn't working, it is likely that it has expired or has been used to activate your Railcard on too many devices. You can only store your digital Network Railcard on a maximum of 2 devices, so you may need to remove it from an existing device to add it to a new one.
