Getting to the Elizabeth Line at Paddington Station is straightforward, but it depends on where you’re starting within the station. Paddington has two main distinct areas for the Elizabeth Line:
This is the historic Brunel-designed station for Great Western Railway (GWR) services. Look for the signs: Follow the large, purple “Elizabeth Line” signs. Head towards the “East End” of the station (the end opposite the taxi rank and where the Hammersmith & City/Circle Line underground entrance is). You’ll go down a set of escalators or lifts to a spacious, new underground ticket hall. From there, follow signs to the platforms. Trains towards Central London, Canary Wharf, and Abbey Wood depart from here.
This is the most important thing to know to avoid confusion: Westbound Elizabeth Line services (to Heathrow Airport and Reading) do not depart from the new underground platforms. They depart from Paddington National Rail (Mainline) Platforms 11, 12, 13, or 14.
