WMATA (Washington Metro Area Transit Authority) runs the trains and buses in Washington, and their systems are the easiest way to get around the city, hands down. Also known as Metro, the train system has even recently been expanded to better accommodate travelers and commuters coming from Maryland or Virginia.

Catch the Metrorail Washington DC's subway system is a good way to get around as there are trains running from the wee-hours of the morning to midnight or later. Fare cards are available for purchase online to make the travel process faster. Be aware that fares are higher during rush hour and the crowds are bigger too.

Downtown is serviced by the Metro Center station that is one of the busines stations in all of DC. The location of Downtown makes for the city to be very walkable, but there is a variety of transportation options around the area if needed.
