How do you get priority status with Delta?

Customers in Delta One and First Class, Diamond Medallion Members and Delta Premium Select customers will be invited to board the aircraft, in that order, via our Delta Sky Priority lane. All Platinum and Gold Medallion Members, and SkyTeam Elite Plus customers are then invited to board with Sky Priority (SKY).

Priority status with Delta Air Lines, known as Medallion Status, is achieved by meeting specific spending thresholds within a calendar year. As of 2026, Delta has simplified its loyalty program to focus primarily on Medallion Qualification Dollars (MQDs). You earn 1 MQD for every $1 spent on Delta flights, vacation packages, and car rentals booked through Delta. To reach the entry-level Silver Medallion status, you must earn 5,000 MQDs; Gold requires 10,000 MQDs; Platinum requires 15,000 MQDs; and the top-tier Diamond status requires 28,000 MQDs. Additionally, holders of specific Delta SkyMiles American Express cards (Reserve and Platinum) can earn MQDs through their daily credit card spending (e.g., $10 or $20 spent equals 1 MQD). Status grants perks like priority boarding, waived baggage fees, and "Sky Priority" services at the airport. For those who don't fly enough to earn status, you can gain "priority" boarding simply by holding a co-branded Delta credit card or by purchasing a "Comfort+" or "First Class" ticket, which includes priority services regardless of your loyalty level.
