How do you ride Tron during not so scary?

If you are going to Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and plan to ride TRON Lightcycle Run, the best advice is to use an atomic clock time source, such as an Apple Watch, to precisely join the 6pm queue within the My Disney Experience app.

To ride TRON Lightcycle / Run during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in 2026, you must join the exclusive 6:00 PM Virtual Queue via the My Disney Experience app. Unlike regular park hours, where a standby line is now common, TRON typically reverts to a Virtual Queue during "hard-ticket" events to manage the high demand in a shorter window. You do not need to be inside Magic Kingdom to join at 6:00 PM, but you must have your party ticket linked to your account. Because this queue famously fills up in under 5 seconds, it is vital to use an "atomic clock" and refresh the app exactly as the time flips. If you miss the 6:00 PM drop, your only other option is to ride during the "mix-in" period between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM using the standard standby line, though this will eat into your valuable pre-party time. Note that Lightning Lane Single Pass is generally not available for purchase during the actual party hours.

TRON does move up and down a fair bit, but there's very little of that “stomach-drop” feeling with your feet leaving the floor. That's for two reasons. The first is that on a Lightcycle your head points down, not your feet. But the bigger reason is that almost all of TRON's rise-and-drop motion includes a turn.

There's nothing slow about this ride. If you have a thrill seeker who enjoys speed, Tron will not be too scary for them. One thing to note: it's a relatively short ride that truly only lasts 60 seconds once in motion. So even if Tron turns out to be scary, it should be a very short experience.

The TRON ride vehicles — or Lightcycles — are similar to a motorcycle. Like the vehicles on Avatar Flight of Passage in Animal Kingdom, you will lean forward when you board, with leg restraints that come down around the back of your calves. The back of the seat will come down to secure you in as well.

In the end, TRON Lightcycle / Run is a wildly fun ride, and it's something we look forward to doing every single time we come to the Magic Kingdom. It's a must-do, and it indeed makes things even better that it replaced absolutely nothing.
