How does park and ride work at UGA?

The Park & Ride (lot E23) offers a lower-rate parking option to UGA students, faculty, and staff for $10 per month. Open daily from dawn to dusk, the Park & Ride lot is located at the corner of College Station and North Oconee Access Road. The Park & Ride is serviced by two UGA bus routes.

Evening Parking Parking after 6:00 p.m. in a General Parking Lot is free for vehicles registered to an active UGA parking account. In many General Parking Lots, parking is also free to unregistered vehicles after 6:00p. m. Certain lots have additional After Hours enforcement and are denoted with a caret (^).

Citation Payments Employees and Visitors may pay on the Parking Portal, via mail, or in person at the TPS Customer Relations office. Inappropriately parked vehicles will be towed if registered to an account that has received 8 or more parking citations during the current academic year (August 1 - July 31).

Weekend Parking Enforcement If your vehicle is not registered to an active UGA parking account, you must pay-per-hour to park in these lots during enforcement hours. Parking in all other lots is free for any vehicle on Saturdays and Sundays (excluding Gamedays).

UGA Bus System It is completely fare-free and services 7 days a week. The weekday bus runs from 6:30 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. on weekdays. Special routes for the nighttime and weekend run 7:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Monday through Wednesday and 7:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. Thursday through Saturday.

The cost of a permit is $10 (Park & Ride), $20, $30, or $40 per month depending on the lot. Permits are sold for nine- or twelve-month periods and expire at the end of the spring semester or on July 31st.

Don't get ticketed in the first place
  1. After you park, carefully read all signs you can see to determine if parking is legal on the day/time and for as long as you planned to be parked.
  2. If it's metered parking, make sure to pay as directed, and don't stay beyond the time you've purchased.

SGA is partnering with transportation and parking services at the university, and the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia, for a new initiative called Food for Fines. The program will allow UGA students, faculty and staff members to get their most recent parking ticket waived or refunded if they donate canned goods.

Parking in downtown Athens is free on Sundays. Downtown parking is also free on the following holidays: Labor Day, July 4, MLK Day, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving, New Year's Day, and Christmas.

Season ticket packages do not include a ticket to the UGA-Ga. Tech game at Turner Field on May 18. Tickets for individual games are $8 for reserved seating and $5 for general admission. UGA students with a valid student ID will be admitted free.
