VelociCoaster features two high-speed launches powered by linear synchronous motors, a signature 155-foot-tall (47 m) top hat, four inversions, and a maximum speed of 70 mph (110 km/h).
This ride proudly wears its coaster bonafides on its sleeve with great airtime, speed, zero trim brakes, and the incredible Mosasaurus Roll while also giving a fully themed immersive experience even if you don't want to ride.
On a thrill scale of 0 to 10 (with 0 being stimulation free and 10 being egads!), we think VelociCoaster rates 8.5. That's plenty thrilling. It's partly the height—155 feet is nothing to scoff at—as well as the 80-degree drop and its 70 mph speed.
Q: Is the Hulk more intense than Velocicoaster? A: In our opinion, the VelociCoaster is more intense than the Hulk. It is faster and has more thrill features overall than the Hulk ride.
This is an amazing, thrilling roller coaster. Not for the faint of heart but absolutely a blast! After being at Universal the year prior and seeing the testing of this coaster the year prior to opening, I felt safe riding it. This is also one of the coasters that feels like a nice, long ride.
VelociCoaster is intense, yet smooth – the intensity comes from the airtime and crazy maneuvers and not the roughness of the track. The only thing holding you in is a lap bar, which makes it comfortable one yet thrilling thanks to the air time, speed and the two separate launches. Child Swap?
If you're looking for a new number 1 get on Velocicoaster as I believe it is the Best Roller Coaster In The World. Rating: 5 out of 5. Overall I give Velocicoaster 5/5 stars it is a truly world-class coaster.
In our opinion, the VelociCoaster is without a doubt the most intense ride at Universal Orlando Resort which is the main reason why we graded it a 10/10 on the thrill scale above. This Jurassic Park-inspired roller coaster shoots riders through two launches, clocking in at over 70 MPH.
Keep the Kids in MindAlthough there aren't specific age limits to ride the VelociCoaster, there are height limits. If your children are under 4 foot 3 inches, they won't be able to go on the ride. Fortunately, there is a waiting space for the children to watch as the adults speed down and around the tracks.
The majority of people do not pass out on these rides (or come close) so those who have a propensity to do so might want to look into whether there is an underlying medical condition. Of course.
The two scariest roller coasters in the US are Kingda Ka at Six Flags Great Adventure and Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point. Unlike other ride compilations, such as the 12 longest coasters, this list is somewhat subjective.
Yeah, “lap bar” for me evokes Big Thunder, with a thin metal bar across that really doesn't do much. The lap bar' on VC secures you tight on three sides of your legs / waist with the seat itself securing the fourth side. There is no way you are going anywhere. It's as secure if not moreso than any shoulder harness.
A Guest claimed to have an intense headache after exiting the ride. This incident was reported on February 11, 2023. A month later, on March 12, 2023, a Guest experienced abdominal pain after riding Jurassic World VelociCoaster at Universal's Islands of Adventure.
It is somewhat extreme, but not as extreme as many other coasters. Evaluating thrill levels for other Universal Orlando rides, we give the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit coaster and the Hulk coaster 8s. The more tame Harry Potter and the Escape From Gringotts gets a 4 on the same scale.
