How long do people spend at Toronto Islands?

It would depend what you planned on doing. There are several beaches, one clothing optional and all others clothing required, amusement park, being car free, you can walk and ride bikes anywhere. We stayed about 4 hours, but went with no time limit.

Most visitors to the Toronto Islands typically spend between 4 and 6 hours, though many families and locals choose to make it a full-day excursion lasting 8 hours or more. Because the islands are car-free and consist of several interconnected parks (Centre Island, Ward's Island, and Hanlan's Point), the time spent is often dictated by the variety of activities chosen. A "short" trip might involve a ferry ride and a walk through the residential Ward's Island or a quick visit to the beach. However, a full-day visit usually includes renting a bicycle or "quad-bike" to traverse the 5-kilometer length of the park, visiting the Centreville Amusement Park (which features over 30 rides), and having a picnic or BBQ at one of the designated fire pits. During the peak summer months of July and August, travelers should also factor in significant wait times for the ferry at the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal, which can add 30–60 minutes to each end of the trip. For those wanting to avoid the ferry crowds, a 10-minute water taxi is a popular alternative that allows for a more flexible schedule.
