It is activated when used for first entry into a Disneyland Resort Theme Park or first use of a parking benefit for a fully-paid entry into a pay-on-entry lot at the Disneyland Resort. Your Magic Key will then be valid for one year from the date of activation and you'll have a year of Disney Magic to look forward to!

A Disneyland Magic Key is valid for exactly one year (365 days) from the date of its first use or activation. In 2026, the program has undergone significant changes, including the introduction of the "Explore Key" which replaced the Enchant Key in January 2026. While the pass lasts for a year, its "usability" is governed by blockout dates and the mandatory reservation system. Depending on which tier you hold—Inspire, Believe, Explore, or Imagine—you may be blocked out for as many as 150 days or as few as 10 days (for the top-tier Inspire Key). In 2026, you must also be aware of the "No-Show" policy: if you miss three reservations within a 90-day window, your ability to make new reservations is suspended for 30 days, even though your pass remains "active." You can renew your Magic Key starting 30 days before its expiration date, and doing so allows you to maintain your current tier, which is crucial in 2026 as new pass sales are often "paused" for the general public.
