"Climbing" Jungfraujoch can mean two very different things in 2026. For 99% of tourists, it involves taking the Eiger Express and Jungfrau Railway, which takes about 90 to 100 minutes from Interlaken Ost to the "Top of Europe" station at 3,454 meters. However, if you mean a physical mountaineering ascent of the Jungfrau summit (4,158m), it is a serious 2-day undertaking. Most climbers take the train to Jungfraujoch on Day 1, hike 45 minutes to the Mönchsjoch Hut to sleep, and then begin a 4–6 hour technical climb to the summit at dawn on Day 2. If you were to climb from the valley floor (Stechelberg) without the train, it would be a grueling 3-day expedition. For 2026 visitors, simply walking from the Jungfraujoch station to the Mönchsjoch Hut on the groomed snow path takes about 45 to 60 minutes each way and is a "high-altitude" challenge due to the thin air.
