How long does United 1K status last?

How long does United 1K status last? United Premier 1K status can be earned at any point in the year. Once you've earned it, the status is valid for the remainder of the year, as well as the entirety of the following year.

United Airlines Premier 1K® status typically lasts for a full "program year," which runs through January 31st of the year following its expiration. For example, if you earned 1K status during the 2025 calendar year, it would be valid through January 31, 2027. In 2026, if you successfully complete the requirements (60 PQF and 22,000 PQP, or 28,000 PQP), your status will be active immediately and remain valid through January 2028. For members participating in a "Premier Status Match Challenge" in 2026, the status is initially granted for a 120-day "Challenge Period"; if the requirements are met during that window, the status is then extended through the end of the standard program year. It is a high-value strategy to track your PQP early in 2026, as United occasionally offers "PlusPoints" bonuses for members who exceed the 1K requirements, which can be used to upgrade international flights long before your status officially expires.
