The walking path from Disney's Contemporary Resort to the entrance of Magic Kingdom is approximately half a mile and typically takes between 10 to 15 minutes at a steady pace. This walkway is a highly coveted perk for guests staying at the Contemporary or Bay Lake Tower, as it allows them to bypass the monorail or boat lines entirely, especially during the crowded park opening and closing periods. The path is well-lit, paved, and features its own dedicated Security and Bag Check station near the Contemporary end, which is often much faster than the main security lines at the Transportation and Ticket Center. Because the monorail follows a one-way loop that stops at the Polynesian and Grand Floridian before reaching Magic Kingdom, walking is often the fastest way to get from the Contemporary to the park gates, though the monorail remains the faster option for the return trip.
