In 1995, Disney released the movie Pocahontas and we were introduced to it's first tattooed Disney princess. Pocahontas, the daughter of a powerful Algonquin chief, had a red armband placed around her right bicep and over twenty years later—she is still the only Disney princess with ink.

Within the official Disney Princess franchise, only one character is depicted with a permanent, visible marking that functions as a tattoo: Pocahontas. She has a distinctive red tattoo around her right bicep, which is based on traditional Powhatan body art. While characters like Moana and Raya come from cultures where tattooing is a significant tradition (Tatau in Polynesia or traditional markings in Southeast Asia), they do not personally have visible tattoos in their films; rather, tattoos are seen on supporting characters like Maui or Moana's father. Kida from Atlantis: The Lost Empire has a facial marking, but she is not part of the official "Disney Princess" marketing lineup. Thus, Pocahontas remains the sole member of the official royal court to sport ink, reflecting the studio's historical focus on traditional, "clean-cut" character designs for its primary princess brand.
