How many people fit on a GO bus?

Go Buses strive to be the first choice for travelers. We continually upgrade and offer state-of-the-art, modern vehicles, with a fleet boasting deluxe coaches with capacity for 55 passengers.

The passenger capacity of a GO bus in Ontario depends on the specific model of the vehicle, but most standard and double-decker buses in the fleet carry between 55 and 81 passengers. The traditional single-level "Highway" coaches typically seat about 55 people and have limited room for standing. The more modern "Superlo" double-decker buses, which have become the backbone of the GO Transit bus fleet, are much larger, offering seating for 81 passengers—roughly 20 more than a standard bus. These double-decker models are specifically designed with lower floors for accessibility and provide a significantly higher "per-trip" capacity to help manage the heavy commuter volume in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA). When including standing room for short-distance trips (though GO Transit generally discourages long-distance standing for safety), a fully loaded bus can accommodate several additional people. Each bus is also equipped with two bike racks on the front and dedicated space for passengers using wheelchairs or mobility devices, ensuring a high level of inclusivity alongside its high-capacity design.
