Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) in Singapore was one of the most expensive construction projects in the world at the time of its debut. The initial development, which opened in 2010, cost approximately S$6.59 billion (around $4.9 billion USD). However, the investment didn't stop there. In 2019, Genting Singapore announced a massive expansion plan known as "RWS 2.0." By 2026, the total investment in the resort has grown significantly, with an additional S$6.8 billion allocated for expanding Universal Studios Singapore (including Minion Land and Super Nintendo World) and the S.E.A. Aquarium. This brings the cumulative construction and expansion costs to well over $10 billion USD. This massive expenditure was designed to keep the resort competitive with other global entertainment hubs and to maintain Singapore's status as a top-tier destination for high-end integrated tourism and gaming.
