How much does it cost to drive on Rainbow Beach?

Rainbow Beach vehicle access is strictly limited to 4WDs and if you wish to drive past the coloured sands to Double Island Point or Teewah Beach you will need to purchase a $30 Vehicle Access Permit.

You'll also see 4WD vehicles driving on the beach below the coloured sand cliffs which is a gazetted road and connects to Leisha Track and over to the Teewah Beach heading to Noosa. The 4×4 beach drive from Rainbow Beach to Noosa takes approximately 45 minutes.

Rainbow Beach Gazetted as town in 1969, it was first settled by sand miners, who were mining the rutile (black sand) to extract titanium oxide. It's now know for it's laid-back beach vibe and easy access to the aquatic playground of Rainbow Beach at the eastern end of the town.

Both have beautiful beaches. Hervey Bay has no surf as it is protected by Fraser Island but this means you can swim anywhere not just between the flags so the beaches are not crowded like at the Sunshine Coast. Rainbow Beach does have surf but can be fairly flat much of the time.
