Getting from the Park and Palace of Pena to Quinta da Regaleira in Sintra involves a short but steep journey. The most efficient way is to use the 434 Scotturb bus, which loops through the historic center and the main monuments. However, since the 434 is a one-way loop, taking it directly from Pena to Regaleira can be time-consuming as it heads back to the train station first. Many visitors prefer taking a quick Uber, Bolt, or Tuk-Tuk for the 10-minute drive, which is relatively inexpensive and saves a lot of walking. If you choose to walk, it is a roughly 25-30 minute journey downhill through the "Vila Sassetti" trail or along the main road (Estrada da Pena). While the walk is downhill and offers beautiful forest views, the road is very narrow with no proper sidewalks in some sections, so you must be extremely cautious of traffic. Most travelers find that a Tuk-Tuk is the most "Sintra-esque" and fun way to bridge the gap between these two iconic sites, especially if you are trying to maximize your time to see the Initiation Well at Regaleira before it gets too crowded.
