Pigeon Forge, Sevierville and Gatlinburg are all located in Sevier County, TN. Sevier County is technically a dry county, though it includes a city option for the sale and service of liquor and/or beer with regard to state law.
Dollywood does not permit visitors to bring food or drinks into the park, although attendees are welcome to leave to eat elsewhere and return that same day. Otherwise, a variety of excellent options for dining and snacks are available onsite.
VISIT IN THE OFF-SEASONTo avoid traffic (and packed attractions), visit in winter or early spring. Try to avoid spring break weeks or popular periods like Memorial Day weekend.
Free Water StationsDollywood always offers guests free ice water at any culinary location to make sure everyone stays hydrated while having fun. We've installed water bottle refill stations around the park so you can fill up your own water bottle without waiting in line at a food location!
There's so much to see and do at Dollywood. Since you'll likely be there all day (or two), a backpack is probably one of the best bags to bring if you must bring something. Better than a purse, carrying a bag on your back will keep you hands-free and give you an extra place to store your beverage, keys and keepsakes.
Not only is Dollywood less crowded in the spring, but the weather is great, too. March through May have mild temperatures in the 60s and 70s and reduced humidity. This creates a pleasant environment for many entertaining outdoor activities for the whole family.
If you're traveling with a family or looking for action-packed fun, Pigeon Forge may be your ideal choice. But if you prefer a more relaxed and intimate setting, surrounded by the beauty of the Smoky Mountains, then Gatlinburg is the perfect retreat for you.
While it's true that Pigeon Forge attracts many visitors each year, labeling it as a mere tourist trap would be an oversimplification. Beyond the flashy attractions and souvenir shops lies a genuine community with warm and welcoming locals.
Tickets and airfareFor people aged 10 to 61, a one-day Dollywood ticket costs $89. Kids aged 3 and under can enter the park for free, while those aged 4 to 9, plus seniors 62 and over, get a discount of 10 silver dollars, making their tickets $79.
Plan For A Couple DaysDollywood has too much to experience in just one day. Having two full days will give you the real experience complete with great roller coasters, fun rides, live music, and delicious food. You'll be glad you gave yourself enough time to fully explore this 130-acre park.
In fact, if you are within at least three hours of Dollywood, a day trip is very feasible for you! No, you definitely won't get to do all the amazing things that Dollywood offers, but you can certainly hit the highlights!
