Is Disney World getting a new roller coaster?

TRON Lightcycle Run is a new roller coaster by Space Mountain in Magic Kingdom's Tomorrowland at Walt Disney World. This covers everything you need to know: opening date, previews, problems, and answers to common questions. (Updated April 11, 2023.)

Yes, Walt Disney World is currently in a massive construction phase with several new coasters slated for the coming years. Most notably, in 2026, Disney's Hollywood Studios is beginning major work on the Monsters, Inc. "Door Warehouse" Roller Coaster, which will be the first suspended coaster in a Disney park. Additionally, the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster is undergoing a significant "Muppets-themed" reimagining in 2026, which will feature a completely new storyline and music while keeping the high-speed launch. Further out, "Villains Land" and "Cars Land" in Magic Kingdom are expected to feature high-thrill attractions. For 2026 visitors, while there may not be a brand-new "ribbon-cutting" coaster open this month, the updates to Smugglers Run and the Muppets coaster signify a major shift in Disney's ride portfolio.
