Splash Mountain has permanently closed at Disneyland in California and Walt Disney World in Florida. While the structure and ride path will remain the same, the story will be changed to and rethemed to The Princess and the Frog Disney Animated movie based on New Orleans. There are a few reasons for this change.
Disneyland closes rides throughout the year to allow for refurbishment. Sadly this means that sometimes our favorite rides, entertainment and restaurants require brief closures to keep things sparkling for guests.
Basic Scoop. During the entire 2023 year, Disney Parks will be celebrating the Walt Disney Company turning 100 years old. This is a global celebration, encompassing all 6 Disney Parks, with the kick off happening at the Disneyland Resort on January 27, 2023.

But some of the changes making things more complicated at Disneyland are coming from an increased reliance on new technology and systems. The park is now reliant on guests using technology for everything from tickets to reservations to wait times to food ordering to making purchases.
