It's over. The end of an error. The final two “taco” barges have been removed from World Showcase Lagoon, signaling the end of Harmonious at EPCOT. Harmonious was originally designed to be a long-term replacement for Illuminations, but the unsightly hardware for the show proved to be its downfall.

EPCOT's poorly received new nighttime show Harmonious will close at the end of Walt Disney World's 50th celebration to be replaced by an all-new show. Announced by Disney Parks chairman Josh D'Amaro at D23 Expo, a new show is in development to debut in late 2023.
2023 marks the end of its transformation with Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana, opening Oct. 16. World Celebration will also be completed in December with a new statue of Walt Disney in an area called Dreamers Point and a new exhibition space called CommuniCore Hall.

According to Walt Disney World, Spaceship Earth will close on July 19, 2023 and will reopen… one day later, on July 20, 2023.
Epcot Forever is a temporary show, they run it while they are doing lagoon work so it's short and to the point. It runs at approximately 11 minutes or so each evening, which is perfectly quick for tired families but also may be a bit underwhelming compared to other fireworks spectaculars at Disney.
While EPCOT Forever can be seen from anywhere around the lagoon, we have a few favorite viewing spots. For a perfectly centered view of EPCOT Forever, you can't get any better than the Showcase Plaza (the open space between the Port of Entry and Disney Traders gift shops).
Epcot Forever is definitely less of a production than both IllumiNations and Harmonious, but as always fireworks shows at Disney tug at your heartstrings and are really a perfect ending to any park day.
When it comes to attractions, Epcot will have more to do in 2023 than it did in the last few years. Plus, Epcot has better atmosphere and food options than any other park at Walt Disney World, which is especially true and important as the phased reopening continues.
However, Disney directors eventually decided that it was too risky to venture into city planning now that its biggest advocate was gone. Roy persisted and took the reins on the project, coming out of retirement, but he could not convince the board to build EPCOT.
