Is food free on Finnair?

On all our long-haul flights and in Business Class on our short-haul flights you'll receive a complimentary meal or snack with beverages, depending on the length of the flight. Every meal on our long-haul flights is crafted with great care, Nordic flavours and a destination-inspired twist.

Whether food is free on Finnair depends entirely on your flight duration and travel class. On long-haul flights (to Asia or North America), all passengers receive a complimentary "tasty hot meal" in Economy Class, along with non-alcoholic beverages and one glass of wine or beer. On these longer routes, a second light meal or snack is also served before landing. However, on short-haul European and domestic flights, the policy is more restrictive; Economy passengers generally only receive complimentary water or blueberry juice. Any other snacks or meals must be purchased from the "onboard menu" or pre-ordered before the flight. In contrast, Business Class passengers on all routes receive high-quality, complimentary Nordic-inspired meals and a full range of beverages, including champagne and spirits, served on porcelain dinnerware.

Yes, you may ask politely [for more free food]. The idea of hoarding plane food might seem stingy at best – and downright ludicrous at worst. After all, in-flight cuisine has something of a bad reputation. Why would you want to eat more of it than is strictly necessary?
