Is LAX walkable?

You can walk between all terminals in LAX. Airside underground and above-ground walkways connect Terminals 4-8, with Terminal 4 also connecting to International Terminal B via a connector bridge.

As of early 2026, LAX is significantly more walkable than it used to be thanks to the completion of several terminal modernization projects. All terminals (1 through 8 and the Tom Bradley International Terminal) are now connected post-security, meaning you can walk from one end of the airport to the other (approx. 2 miles) without having to exit and re-clear TSA. This is a massive improvement for passengers with long layovers who want to access lounges or dining in different terminals. Additionally, the Automated People Mover (APM) is now operational, providing a fast, elevated train link between the terminals, the new consolidated rental car facility, and the LA Metro. While the physical walk between Terminal 1 and Terminal 8 is quite long (about 30–40 minutes), the new "Terminal Connectors" make it a completely indoor, air-conditioned experience with plenty of art and concessions along the way.
