Is Star cruise under Genting?

Star Cruises was a cruise line headquartered in Hong Kong and operating in the Asia-Pacific market. The company was owned by Genting Hong Kong. It was the eighteenth largest cruise line in the world after Carnival Corporation, Royal Caribbean Cruises and 15 others.

As of early 2026, the brand "Star Cruises" is no longer under the original Genting Hong Kong, which faced bankruptcy in 2022. Instead, the legacy of Star Cruises has been revived and reorganized. Following the collapse of the parent company, Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay (founder of Genting) launched Resorts World Cruises to absorb some of the operations. By 2025 and into 2026, many of the intellectual property rights and ships formerly associated with Star Cruises began operating under the banner of StarDream Cruises. For example, vessels like the Star Voyager and Star Navigator (formerly of the Genting/Star fleet) are currently active in the Asia-Pacific market. While the "Genting" name is still synonymous with the leadership (via the Lim family), the corporate structure is now a new entity, distinct from the bankrupt GHK. Effectively, while the "spirit" and leadership remain connected to the Genting family, the legal ownership has transitioned to these newer maritime blocs.
