Is staying at a Disney resort with Skyliner worth it?

Is a Skyliner Resort Worth it? The easy answer is: YES! Skyliner resorts provide you with easy access to two of Disney parks, not to mention all of the other resorts on the Skyliner route and the resorts in the EPCOT area for you to explore and enjoy an extension of dining options beyond your own resort.

Anybody can ride the Skyliner; you don't have to be staying at a resort that has a station to ride it. The Skyliner station at the Epcot International Gateway provides convenient access to the Boardwalk area, including the popular Bon Voyage character meal at Trattoria al Forno.

In addition, the Epcot station puts you within a short walk to the Boardwalk entertainment district where you'll find lots of restaurants and things to do. Important note: You can't get to Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, or Disney Springs from the Disney Skyliner.

So, let's say you want to go from EPCOT to Hollywood Studios. You'd take the Skyliner from EPCOT to Disney's Riviera Resort (you don't need to get off there) and then continue to Caribbean Beach. You will NEED to get off at Caribbean Beach.

For those closures, Cast Members informed us that the Skyliner was undergoing routine maintenance. So if that routine continues, we'll probably see another closure in late January 2024.

Note that the Skyliner is entirely FREE to ride for all guests. You won't be able to access it unless you get to one of its stations, so that could cause some barriers. But you don't need to be staying at one of the hotels on the Skyliner lines to use the service.

There are crowds and guests will line up well in advance of when the Skyliner starts running to ensure that they can get where they're going. There's also the problem [at some stations] of guests being unable to board, because those who got on at an earlier station are already occupying the Skyliner vehicles.

The Disney Skyliner station at EPCOT is located at the International Gateway entrance, which is located at the back of the theme park in World Showcase. Unfortunately, there's no way to walk between these two stations without walking through EPCOT.

The Skyliner is a gondola system that will connect Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios and the International Gateway at Epcot. It will have 11 stations and three routes with six stops each between them. The fastest route takes 12 minutes to complete one round trip from end to end.

Does the Skyliner close if it rains? During storms or high winds, or if lightning has been detected nearby, the Disney Skyliner does close. When that happens, bus transportation will be provided.
