As of 2026, the famous "dinosaur ride" at Epcot—formally known as Ellen's Energy Adventure within the Universe of Energy pavilion—is no longer there. It closed permanently on August 13, 2017. It has been replaced by the high-tech, indoor "omnicoaster" known as Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, which opened in 2022. While the original Universe of Energy building remains, it has been completely gutted and reimagined to house the new Marvel-themed attraction. If you are looking for a dinosaur-themed ride in 2026, you must head over to Disney's Animal Kingdom, where the attraction simply titled DINOSAUR (originally Countdown to Extinction) is still operating in the DinoLand U.S.A. section. However, there are persistent rumors in the Disney community that DinoLand U.S.A. may soon be reimagined into a "Tropical Americas" land, so the 2026 season might be one of your last chances to experience a dinosaur-themed ride at any Walt Disney World park.
