Is the ET ride at Universal Orlando closing?

The last day of operation for those attractions will be Jan. 15. The long-running E.T. Adventure attraction, as well as Animal Actors on Location, the SpongeBob StorePants gift shop and KidZone Pizza Company will remain open. The closures come as Universal makes way for new additions to the themed area.

But over the years, I feel like they got rid of it because it was getting outdated, hard to keep up, and they had a lot of reported injuries. Also, they removed the dueling aspect of it after awhile, so it lost it's appeal.
