Is the trail from Manarola to Corniglia closed?

Bummer, this trail is closed.

As of March 3, 2026, the famous "Blue Trail" (Sentiero Azzurro) section between Manarola and Corniglia remains largely closed due to ongoing stabilization work following landslides. While a very short 300-meter section is open near the Manarola side for scenic photos, the full coastal path is not expected to fully reopen until May 2028. However, travelers can still hike between the two villages using the "upper" route via Volastra (Trail #506 and #586). This alternative is significantly more challenging as it involves a steep climb through ancient vineyards, but it offers arguably more spectacular views than the lower coastal path. For those who prefer not to hike, the Cinque Terre Express train remains the most efficient way to travel between Manarola and Corniglia, with the journey taking less than five minutes. Always check the official Cinque Terre National Park app on the day of your visit for the most up-to-date "trail status" alerts.
