Is the walk open from Riomaggiore to Manarola?

Hiking trail Manarola - Riomaggiore (Via dell'Amore) Status: CLOSED. Reopening scheduled for July 2024.

As of March 2026, the famous Via dell’Amore (Way of Love) between Riomaggiore and Manarola is fully open to the public following its grand reopening in late 2024. After being closed for over 12 years due to a massive landslide, the 900-meter coastal path has been completely restored with advanced rock-fall protection and a new gallery tunnel. However, in 2026, access is strictly regulated to prevent over-tourism. To walk the path, you must book a specific time slot in advance and purchase a dedicated ticket (often included with the 2026 Cinque Terre Card). The path is currently one-way only, starting from Riomaggiore and heading toward Manarola, to ensure a smooth flow of traffic. Access is limited to approximately 400 people per hour. For residents and those staying in local hotels, there are sometimes expanded visiting hours, but for the average tourist in 2026, a reservation is a non-negotiable requirement to witness these iconic Mediterranean views.
