Parking on weekdays (Monday through Friday) is free throughout the year, but fees apply on weekends and holidays.

Saturday is obviously the most popular beach day. Avoid it in favor of other activities if you don't like crowds. And even though Sunday is sometimes a hotel turnover day, beaches may be crowded with locals enjoying their day off with family.

Jones Beach only has the boardwalk concessions--burgers, fries, ice cream, etc. Long Beach had a FANTASTIC board walk that was completely destroyed last year in Hurricane Sandy (it is currently being re-built, a small portion should be open this summer.) Jones Beach had some damage, but most of the board walk is open.
