While there is no traditional "shuttle" system that circles the interior of Disney's Animal Kingdom, the park features the Wildlife Express Train, which is the only form of internal guest transportation. This rustic, open-sided train departs from the village of Harambe in the Africa section and transports guests to Rafiki’s Planet Watch. The journey takes about seven minutes and is the only way to access the Conservation Station and the Affection Section petting zoo. Aside from this train, Animal Kingdom is widely considered Disney’s "walking park" due to its massive scale—spanning over 500 acres. Navigating between major lands like Pandora – The World of Avatar, Asia, and DinoLand U.S.A. must be done on foot. Because of the vast distances and the winding, immersive nature of the trails, it is highly recommended to wear comfortable walking shoes and plan your "trek" strategically to avoid backtracking across the park's dense jungle-like terrain.
