My son went on it when he was 3 and just about 40 and he really liked it. They aren't really strapped in but a bar comes down onto your lap. I think he'll be fine. It doesn't go up or down enough for anyone to feel like they are going to fall out.

This depends on your definition of scary. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is pretty loud, quite fast, and more than a little bumpy. It's a (fun) wild ride! The ride also has tight turns, dips, and bumps, as well as 2 big drops.

The wait can get kind of long on busy days but if you time it right, you won't wait more than 30-40 minutes.
