Is Tron like Slinky Dog?

TRON Lightcycle Run delivers 100-percent pure adrenaline. It's smooth like Slinky Dog, fast like Test Track. And since you're strapped into an open-air lightcycle, it's much more intimate. It puts Rock 'n Rollercoaster's catapult launch to shame.

No, TRON Lightcycle / Run and Slinky Dog Dash are very different ride experiences, though both are technically roller coasters. Slinky Dog Dash is a "Family Coaster" with a 38-inch height requirement; it is playful, smooth, and features multiple launches with moderate thrills, making it perfect for kids. TRON, on the other hand, is a high-intensity "Thrill Ride" with a 48-inch height requirement. It features a high-speed launch that reaches nearly 60 mph in seconds and utilizes a unique "motorcycle-style" seating position that places you leaning forward. While Slinky Dog Dash is about "bouncing" through Andy's backyard, TRON is about speed, sleek "bio-digital" aesthetics, and a much more aggressive physical experience. A peer-to-peer comparison: if you find Slinky Dog a bit too tame, TRON will provide the adrenaline you're looking for, but if you dislike "leaning" into a ride or intense wind-in-your-face speed, TRON might be a bit too much.

Does the ride have upside-down loops and drops? TRON Lightcycle / Run does not go upside down, but it does have big drops. There are also twists and turns throughout the ride — after all, you're racing on a motorbike.

On the main Disney World page for Tron, it's described as having 'Big Drops'. This just seems odd to me, as everything I have read/seen about the ride describes it as fairly tame (minus the launch) with no real big drops, certainly no more than Guardians of the Galaxy which is listed as 'Small Drops'.

Outside of the initial launch, it is pretty tame. It is way less intense than Cosmic and Hagrids. That launch is a bit faster than I had expected but if you can do Cosmic Rewind, you can do Tron easy. To me, tron was a little scarier than cosmic due to the heights/drop factor.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train – Magic Kingdom: There is some debate about whether this is more or less intense than Slinky Dog Dash; they're close, but I rated it after Slinky Dog because the cars have a bit of a swinging quality that causes me some slight nausea.

You are seated very easily with a lap bar, and the vehicle is placed at the back of the coaster train. Overall, even though my test experience riding TRON was a little uncomfortable, I'm grateful to have had the option to use the accessibility car.

In the end, TRON Lightcycle / Run is a wildly fun ride, and it's something we look forward to doing every single time we come to the Magic Kingdom. It's a must-do, and it indeed makes things even better that it replaced absolutely nothing.

It's extremely smooth, like EPCOT's Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, without the spinning. And like EPCOT's Test Track, part of the track goes outdoors. The indoor portion is relatively dark, but not scary. It's thrilling.

The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror If we're talking about the scariest rides at Disney World, I had to start with The Tower of Terror. I mean, it's all in the name! From the ghostly holograms, the 'death' defying drop(s) to the sinister theming, everything is designed to scare the Mickey outta you – and it really does.
