Is Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach better for little kids?

Both of the Disney water parks are totally great for kids, but Blizzard Beach has more specifically for kids. While you could call the kiddie play areas—Ketchakiddee and Tike's Peak—equal, Blizzard Beach has a large area dedicated to pre-teens called Ski Patrol Training Camp.

If you have a child between the ages of 5-12, Blizzard Beach is by far the winner in my book. BB's Ski Patrol Training Camp has experiences aimed specifically at the elementary school set that Typhoon Lagoon can't match.

Disneyland. Much like Magic Kingdom, Disneyland is my top choice for 5-year-olds because it offers classic Disney Magic. Walking down Mainstreet towards the castle will excite kids of all ages. In Adventure land, kids can experience the timeless journey of the Jungle Cruise and run through Tarzans' Tree House.

Generally speaking, we find that Blizzard Beach has a few more daring thrill rides than Typhoon Lagoon, but if you're getting the Park Hopper Plus Option, then there is no reason not to visit both at least once during your trip!

Blizzard Beach opened April 1, 1995. The water at Blizzard is heated year-round between 75 to 80 degrees, with the exception of the melting snow in the ice cave of Cross Country Creek. Guests may bring food baskets.

At this time we know that Typhoon Lagoon is reopening on March 19, 2023, after a multi-month refurbishment. It closed for refurbishment on Sunday, November 13, 2022.
