Is Velocicoaster an Intamin?

The two rides are quite different from one another despite sharing an IP; Flying Dinosaur is a B&M Flying Coaster, whereas VelociCoaster is an Intamin LSM Launch Coaster.

Yes, the Jurassic World VelociCoaster at Universal Islands of Adventure was designed and manufactured by the Swiss firm Intamin. Known for their cutting-edge "New Generation" coasters, Intamin utilized their sophisticated LSM (Linear Synchronous Motor) launch technology to propel riders through two high-speed launches, the second of which reaches a top speed of 70 mph in just 2.4 seconds. The ride is famous for its "Top Hat" element, which towers 155 feet over the park’s lagoon, and its unique "Moshi Roll" over the water. As of 2026, it remains one of the highest-rated roller coasters in the world due to its intense airtime, smooth tracking, and immersive storytelling. Intamin worked closely with Universal Creative to integrate the track seamlessly into a paddock-like environment filled with raptor animatronics and rockwork, making it a masterclass in modern theme park engineering and "story-coaster" design.

VelociCoaster is intense, yet smooth – the intensity comes from the airtime and crazy maneuvers and not the roughness of the track. The only thing holding you in is a lap bar, which makes it comfortable one yet thrilling thanks to the air time, speed and the two separate launches. Child Swap?

This is an amazing, thrilling roller coaster. Not for the faint of heart but absolutely a blast! After being at Universal the year prior and seeing the testing of this coaster the year prior to opening, I felt safe riding it. This is also one of the coasters that feels like a nice, long ride.
