To make way for the Jurassic World VelociCoaster at Universal Islands of Adventure, the primary attraction removed was the Triceratops Encounter (also known as Triceratops Discovery Trail). This interactive walkthrough attraction had been largely inactive for nearly a decade before its formal demolition in 2019. Beyond the animal encounter, Universal cleared a significant amount of unused land surrounding the Jurassic Park Discovery Center and razed a major pedestrian bridge that previously connected the Lost Continent to the Jurassic Park area. This reconfiguration allowed the high-speed coaster to "weave" through the existing landscape and over the lagoon. In 2026, fans also recently noticed that the Pteranodon Flyers attraction nearby has been behind construction walls, sparking rumors of further Jurassic-themed updates as Universal continues to refine the "VelociCoaster" footprint into a cohesive Jurassic World sub-section of the park.
