The Jurassic World VelociCoaster at Universal Islands of Adventure is a "thrill" attraction and is generally not considered "family-friendly" in the traditional sense of being suitable for all ages or those who prefer mild rides. It is one of the most intense roller coasters in the world, featuring two high-speed launches (reaching 70 mph), a 155-foot "top hat" tower with an 80-degree drop, and four inversions—including a "barrel roll" over the water. It has a strict height requirement of 51 inches (130 cm), which excludes most young children. While it is themed to a popular movie franchise, the ride experience is designed for adrenaline seekers. For a family with "brave" teenagers and older kids who meet the height requirement and enjoy intense G-forces, it is an absolute must-do. However, for families with small children or those prone to motion sickness, the Pteranodon Flyers or Jurassic Park River Adventure (a water flume) are much more appropriate "family-friendly" alternatives within the same Jurassic-themed area of the park.
