What age can a child go on a Carnival Cruise?

Infants must be at least 6 months of age at the time of embarkation in order to sail. Children must be at least 12 months of age at the time of embarkation to sail on trans-ocean crossings and remote itineraries, where there are more than 2 consecutive sea days. We do not carry baby food or formula on board our ships.

On Carnival Cruise Line, the minimum age for a child to sail is 6 months old on the day of embarkation for most standard itineraries. However, for more remote or long-haul voyages—such as Transatlantic, Transpacific, Hawaii, and South American cruises, as well as any sailing with more than two consecutive sea days—the minimum age is raised to 12 months old. This policy is in place because the medical facilities on board are not equipped to handle specialized neonatal emergencies that might occur far from shore. For families with toddlers, Carnival is highly rated for its "Camp Ocean" program, which accepts children as young as 2 years old (and unlike many other cruise lines, they do not have to be potty-trained to participate in certain supervised activities). It is also important to note that children under the age of 18 traveling with only one parent may require a notarized "Letter of Consent" to comply with international border regulations and the cruise line’s safety protocols.
