What are the ages of your kids? If they are young (say 10 and under), LEGOLAND is much better than Universal Studios Hollywood. As mentioned above, LEGOLAND is designed for kids, while Universal is more of an adult park (basically shows and a tram tour). I would go for Universal.
Denmark LEGOLAND – EuropeLEGOLAND Billund is the original LEGOLAND park built in 1968, and to us, is the ultimate LEGOLAND location. It may not be the biggest LEGOLAND but there is something really special about being in the birthplace of LEGO (and the happiest country on earth).
Our Park was designed for our young families in mind. We do keep shorter hours, so that our youngest fans can enjoy a lovely day at the Park without the stress of late evening hours. Parents can also elect to have their child stay on a ride, so that parents can take turns riding with them if they have only one child.
Therefore, in order to constantly maintain a quality experience in which to play, LEGOLAND Discovery Centers around the world do not permit entry to any groups of adults, single adult and adult couples, who are not accompanied by a young child or children during standard hours. LEGOLAND California is a fantastic destination for families with toddlers, as well as younger and older kids. The theme park offers a wide range of age-appropriate rides and attractions that cater to young children, while still providing plenty of fun for the entire family.
The park is geared for kids ages 2-12 but many families with a range of ages can have fun exploring. I find that by setting expectations for what there is to do for each age, you are increasing chances that everyone will have a great time.
