For the 2023 season (and continuing into 2026), Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) at Universal Studios officially recommends that the event is not for children under the age of 13. While there is no strict "minimum age" required for entry—meaning a parent can technically bring a younger child if they choose—the event is designed to be genuinely terrifying, featuring intense "scare zones," graphic haunted houses, loud noises, and jump scares. Many children under 13 find the atmosphere overwhelming, as the "scare actors" are trained to target anyone who looks frightened. Furthermore, the event features mature themes, simulated violence, and fake blood that may be inappropriate for younger audiences. For most families, the teenage years are considered the appropriate time to start attending HHN. If you do bring a younger child, be aware that they are required to pay full event admission, and the park does not offer "scare-free" zones once you are inside the event gates.
