What airspace is blue?

Class D airports are depicted on aeronautical charts by a blue dashed circle around the airport symbol. Within the dashed circle is a number enclosed in a dashed square. This number indicates the top of the Class D airspace, expressed in hundreds of feet (MSL).

Class F. Class F is not used in the United States. In Canada, Class F is the equivalent of U.S. special use airspace including restricted and alert areas, while ICAO defines it as a hybrid of Class E and Class G, in which ATC separation guidance is available but not required for IFR operation.

Unless otherwise authorized or required by ATC, no person may operate an aircraft at or below 2,500 feet above the surface within 4 nautical miles of the primary airport of a Class C airspace area at an indicated airspeed of more than 200 knots (230 mph).

The upper limit of the airspace should not exceed 10,000 feet MSL. However, high airport field elevation, adjacent high terrain, or operational factors may warrant a ceiling above 10,000 feet MSL.

Once you hear your callsign, you can enter the Class C airspace. Keep these important facts in mind: If the controller responds with (Aircraft callsign) standby, you have established two-way radio communication, and you can enter Class C airspace. If you don't hear your callsign, you CAN NOT enter the airspace.
