What are the four keys basics of Disney?

To support this decision-making process, adventure guides are trained on Disney's Four Keys Basics, in priority order: Safety, Courtesy, Show and Efficiency.

The "Four Keys" have been the cornerstone of Disney’s guest service philosophy for decades, though they were recently expanded to five in 2020. The original four keys are Safety, Courtesy, Show, and Efficiency. Safety is always the first priority; it dictates everything from ride maintenance to crowd control to ensure no guest or Cast Member is harmed. Courtesy mandates that every interaction should be friendly and helpful, treating every guest like a VIP. Show refers to the "immersion" of the experience; Cast Members must stay in character, and "backstage" elements like trash or construction should never be visible to guests. Efficiency ensures that the parks operate smoothly, minimizing wait times and maximizing the guest experience. In 2020, Disney added a fifth key, Inclusion, which sits at the center of the others. This key ensures that all guests and employees, regardless of background, feel represented and welcome. These standards are taught to every single employee at "Disney University" and are the reason why Disney remains a global leader in the hospitality and entertainment industry.
