At the beginning or end of the day… wait times will always be the shortest. It doesn't matter if it is a slow day or a busy one – if you are at the parks first thing in the morning, or if you are the last one leaving at the end of the night, you will experience the shortest waits.

“Are the wait times on the app accurate?” Yes they are quite accurate; at least you're able to get a ballpark idea. But know that you also have a big board in the middle of the park with a summary of all the wait times and we've used that a lot as well.

Visit during peak times Don't visit when everyone else does. If possible, try to avoid long weekends, spring and summer breaks and busy holidays. You can check the ticket calendar on the park's website and look for the dates with the cheapest admission, $109. Those are safe bets for avoiding the biggest crowds.

Universal has a large portion of its attractions than have an average standby wait between 15 and 30 minutes. If you're solely focused on going to the park that has the most attractions with average standby waits under 20 minutes, go with Universal Studios.

Results: The Express Pass allows you to experience 32 more rides within a single day compared to using the regular standby lines. Best Time of Year to Visit There's really no off season for Universal, but the week after Labor Day until mid-December (excluding Thanksgiving week) and January to mid-May (excluding spring break) are known for smaller crowds, cooler weather, and less humid air.

If you're more interested in large rides like roller coasters, Universal is going to be your best bet. The same is true if you're a big fan of Harry Potter. If you don't mind some of the more family-friendly rides or you have little ones to bring along, Disney may be a better option.
