At Universal Studios Florida, the Minions-themed attractions replaced two major legacy locations to create what is now known as Illumination’s Minion Land. Specifically, the anchor attraction, Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, replaced Jimmy Neutron’s Nicktoon Blast (which itself had replaced the legendary Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera) in 2012. More recently, the interactive "moving walkway" attraction Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast, which opened in 2023, replaced the long-running Shrek 4-D theater. The transition turned the entire front section of the park into a vibrant, yellow-hued district. While some "classic" fans miss the Shrek and Nickelodeon representation, the replacement was seen as a strategic move to capitalize on the massive, multi-generational popularity of the Despicable Me franchise. Minion Land now features the "Minion Café" (replacing the Universal Studios' Classic Monsters Cafe), making it a comprehensive zone for families that utilizes some of the park's most prime real estate near the entrance.
