What do you wear to a British Airways lounge?

Firstly, we don't want customers to set off on their travels uncomfortable in full morning suits (although feel free to wear a suit if you so wish). All we do ask is that customers dress in a smart casual fashion so that we maintain a nice environment for all customers to enjoy.

The official dress code for British Airways lounges, including the prestigious Galleries and Concorde Rooms, is "Smart Casual." In 2026, this is interpreted broadly but with a focus on neatness. For men, this typically means a collared shirt, chinos, or dark, well-fitted jeans paired with clean loafers or stylish sneakers. For women, a dress, skirt, or tailored trousers with a blouse is common. The airline's staff generally seeks to maintain a relaxed but sophisticated environment, so while you don't need a suit, certain items are strictly prohibited: sportswear (like gym shorts or tracksuits), flip-flops, and clothing with offensive slogans or excessive bare skin. If your attire is deemed "overly casual" or disrespectful, lounge staff at hubs like Heathrow Terminal 5 have the discretion to refuse entry. The goal is to bridge the gap between "travel comfort" and "premium atmosphere," ensuring that all guests feel they are in an exclusive, professional space.
