Kings Island opened for the 2023 season on Saturday, April 15. That same day, a 17-year-old was arrested running away from police and jumping a park fence, according to local media reports.

The ride experienced its first major incident on July 9, 2006, during which a train passed over a structural track failure that severely jolted riders. Son of Beast closed for the remainder of the 2006 season while repairs were made, and Kings Island decided to replace the original trains with lighter models.

The answer is it depends on what you want to do. If you only want to ride the big thrill rides, then yes, it is a one day park. If you want to ride all the rides, and see some shows (highly, highly recommend Cirque!) then you could easily spend two days there.

Weekdays (Monday-Thursday) are historically least crowded during the summer season in June, July, and August. Weekends, especially Saturdays, attract more tourists and vacationers. The Halloween event tends to be more manageable earlier in the season, especially in September.
Grand Carousel Family Ride at Kings IslandKings Island's magnificent carousel was manufactured by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company, Philadelphia, Pa., in 1926 and is the oldest ride in the park. It is one of approximately 90 carousels built by the company from 1904 to 1934.
